High Key, Macro White Lisianthus Flowers

November 03, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Whenever flowers come into my house, I simply have to bring out the macro lens and photograph them. It is such a joyous thing to spend the time looking and simply enjoying the flowers.

For these photos, I used the backlight of the glass doorway and 105mm macro lens.

The gentle curves and softness of the petal edges are what really attracted me about the open blooms. When I shoot macro, I'm trying to capture the essence of what I see, rather than create scientific documentation.

The buds are equally exquisite with their long, slender stems.

I post processed these photos in the free Silver Efex Pro software, to give them a gentle, monochrome, filmic look.

My next macro workshop will be a full day on Saturday 26th November 2016 in Hinckley. Click HERE for full details, or phone if you have any questions.
