Burano Blues

It was a crisp winter’s day just after New Year when I visited the tiny island of Burano.

These images focus on the blue colours, textures and details of the houses in one of the islands in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy.

Like Venice itself, it is an archipelago of 4 islands linked by bridges.

It is a popular travel destination known for its lace work and brightly coloured homes which are popular with artists.

The colours of the houses follow a specific system originating from the golden age of its development; if someone wishes to paint their home, one must send a request to the government.

I chose in this collection to select only the blue houses and boats.

Limited edition giclee prints are printed on Canson Infinity Edition Etching Rag, 100% cotton fine art, archival, acid free paper. Images are offered in 3 sizes and editions are limited to 50 prints altogether of any single artwork. I check each print carefully, number, sign it and wrap it in acid free tissue before delivery.
