“If I could tell you about red

I would sing to you of fire

sweet like cherries

burning like cinnamon

smelling like a rose in the sun.”

—Dixie Dawn Miller Goode

The strongest of all colours, red evokes intense emotions, raises blood pressure and heart rate and is generally stimulating.

Rooms —

red encourages appetite, so is good for kitchens and dining areas. It’s way too energetic for relaxing rooms such as bedrooms or quiet living areas.

Home Decor Styles —

richer tones are used in Traditional, bright tones in Contemporary and Boho.

Mood —

brighter or muted tones for Wanderlust or Creative.

Sanctuary Tips —

not the ideal colour for a sanctuary space unless it is used in small amounts or in deeper, muted tones.
